Five a Side Football in London

There is something of a shortage of decent pitches in London, hardly surprising because there is so little space. This means it is jolly difficult to get bookings. Most places have to be booked a week in advance and they are booked up straight away!!

We play at Finsbury Leisure Center one evening a week, the pitches are excellent - having been resurfaced only two summers ago. It is the best astroturf that I've ever played on! They have three pitches, two small and one large. Booking the pitches is hard - either by telephone (very difficult to get through) or by queuing at reception (forty minutes to an hour waiting time, to ensure a pitch!!)

My group has been playing for over 25 years although only a couple of people remain from the original contingent. I'm a relative newcomer having only been involved for the last four or five years.

Another friend of mine organises games which I play in at the Whitechapel Sports Center - the pitch (only one) doesn't have such a good surface but the venue is easy to get to and there is a small car park.
