Enduring Love Film Review

(1) Strangely hypnotic stalker film follows haunting, twisty path :: (2) The haunting, heady film that is Enduring Love, will not only stir emotion in the most sceptical of hearts, it will have a profound and lasting effect on all.

Yes i had to double take those reviews too! Having checked around, the second one may well be a press release because I found the article reproduced word for word on several film review sites.

When we went, a chinese couple walked out after about two minutes! I chucked at the time, afterwards I wondered at their perceptive foresight. This film was overly long and somewhat boring to say the least. The much hyped opening sequence in which there is a balloon accident was not dramatic at all, I thought that increasing tension through atmospheric slow motion and funky camera angles was ancient history - unfortunately not.

The story is about obsession, the twist being that it is man on man rather than the usual bunny boiling fem, Pundits are even touting Rhys Ifans, the stalker, as a potential Oscar nominee (foreign actor) - he was very good it must be said, but the film overall is very poor.

Samantha Morton as Claire gives quite a bit of visual interest and I was pleased when she fell out of love with Joe (Daniel Craig) because his character was most unlikeable anyway, I did smile at the last scene, included no doubt to demonstrate that Jed was bonkers just in case you hadn't worked it out for yourself.

Highlight of the evening - getting a free shower gel sample (two infact, lucky me!) from one of those lovely PR girls as we left the cinema, it was almost as if the Surrey Quays Multiplex was feeling guilty and wanted to at least give us something for our money.
